SOCIETY NEWS
The old saying “it’s an ill wind….”etc, but during this period of enforced closure we have taken the opportunity to make long needed improvements to the theatre – both externally an internally. The back and sides have been landscaped – mainly by our secretary, Deborah White and her husband Leon, but also our Chairman Chris Thorp and his wife Angela. John Hill, with his wife Freda, has now virtually re-wired the whole of the building and is at present refurbishing the house lights. The Dressing room has been redecorated and we have purchased new fire doors to the dressing rooms which will be fitted in due course.
As far as future productions are concerned, we have re-scheduled “Ladies Day” from October 21st to 23rd 2021 and hopefully, the “Breakaleg” Theatre Company are looking to present their next play in September. Of course this situation could change but we remain optimistic!
It is frustrating and ironic that since last August we have had 6 potential new members who wish to join the Thesps. But when we do finally open our doors again it will be to welcome our members and our audiences to a much improved Playhouse!
