On behalf of the members and the committee I would like to thank Jeff Tiler for all the hard work he has been doing in trying to locate funding for the replacement of the theatre roof.

Some of you will be aware that just before the Covid-19 pandemic started last year we were informed that the theatre needed a new roof as the original slates are now starting to disintegrate due to weathering over the past 150 years.

We asked some local roofing companies to submit quotes for this work and the cost is estimated between £36,000 and £40,000.

The Society does not hold large reserves as we have always used our income to keep the theatre open. This means that we need to seek grants from outside funding organisations. Jeff has kindly taken on the role of fundraiser and has put a lot of work into producing the information and documentation necessary to submit requests for funding.

So far Jeff has made several submissions but we have not been successful to date and he is continuing with this work. Hopefully we will soon be able to start getting the theatre ready for future productions.
