The first AGM of the Thespians since the advent of the pandemic, was held on Wednesday April 6th. The Chairperson, Chris Thorpe, welcomed members and the minutes of the last AGM in March 2019 were read and confirmed – by those who could remember as far back as 3 years! In his report he commented that despite the theatre not being in use for productions, much necessary maintenance work and improvement had been carried out by a small dedicated team (details of which can be found in earlier posts). Having survived past challenges to the survival of the society, including the past 2 years, the Thespians now face the wider challenge posed by the steep rise in energy prices – in particular that of electricity. Despite this, he remained optimistic about the future prospects of the society.

The Chairperson thanked Jen Marshall and Ian Cartwright, who have retired from their respective positions of Business Manager and Treasurer after many years of service. He ended the meeting with an exhortation for all members to publicise and sell tickets!
